Displaying the "binary code" for the winery name on its label, the 2019 Binary Syrah Heritage Vineyard has a vibrant purple core and electric pink rim. Immediately impressive with ripe, juicy and dusty tones of black raspberry, blackberry compote and chocolate-covered cherries, the Syrah offers classic tones of cracked pepper, cured meats and dried Provence herbs. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is precise and delineated, with a ripe and juicy essence that merges to meet impressive mineral tension, which is not overcomplicated by new oak. It offers succulent tannins that will remain food-friendly for the next decade. The wine ends with a delightful finish that begs me back for more. Only 1,200 bottles were produced, and I personally will be tempted to pull a bottle early from the cellar. Please don’t do it. Be patient and treat yourself, starting next year and drink until 2031. Bravo!
