A dark and dense red, featuring a fine, tight mesh of firm and chalky tannins, with a weave of black cherry compote, fig cake, medicinal herbs, tarry earth and smoke. It's hard to find this wine's full expression today, even with advance decanting; however, it seems to have all the components in equal measure, suggesting cellaring will allow this to shine brighter.
