Berthier's 2020 Sancerre is clear and intensely mineral on the fresh and spicy, iodine and phenolic nose that is much more discreet in its fruit expression than the corresponding Pouilly-Fume. Full-bodied, dense and juicy but currently marked by strong phenolics, this is a rich and powerful, elegant and structural Sancerre from a very warm vintage. The finish nevertheless reveals refreshing and stimulating lemon zest notes and salivating salinity. This is not in its best shape at this stage, but it's substantial enough for good development. 13% stated alcohol. Diam cork. Tasted in March 2023. Best After 2025.
