Expert Reviews
Aromas of pine needles, blackberries and red cherries. Full-bodied with good depth and complexity. Silky tannins. There is a lovely note of tobacco. Drink now.

From Red Mountain, the 2018 Red Blend checks in as 44% each of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with the balance Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc. It has a pretty, complex nose of red and black fruits interwoven with lots of flowers, cedary spice, and chocolate. I love its balance on the palate, and it's medium-bodied, with a seamless, silky texture and ripe tannin. It's another terrific value.

A blend of 44% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 4% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Franc, the 2018 Red Blend Red Mountain comes from Aquilini vineyard and opens with aromas of dusty plum, blackberry reduction and wilted flowers with expressions of roasted coconut and dried herbs. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is balanced, showcasing fresh and ripe fruit tones with balanced tannins and ending with a juicy, fruit-forward finish. The wine rested in 25% new American oak for 18 months. Only 26,880 bottles were filled. Drink 2021 through 2025.
