An image of winemaking grapes introduces the Sterling Vineyards SVR Bordeaux Blend 2004
Sterling Vineyards SVR Bordeaux
Blend 2004
The Wine Enthusiast 88 points: "Warm and soft, with hints of prune and cooked blackberries alongside touches of chocolate and tobacco, this blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot is a plush, easy-drinking red. Like the Reserve Cabernet, it seems perfectly suited for near-term consumption with grilled steak." Dec 2007
Connoisseurs' Guide 87 points: " 62% Cabernet Sauvignon; 34% Merlot; 4% Petit Verdot. While it sports a high percentage of Merlot in its mix and does show passing glimpses of black cherries, this ripe and weighty effort is all Cabernet in structure with blustery tannins precluding early enjoyment. Tough it may be, but it is never so dry as to make aging a real risk, and five or six years of forbearance will bring it nothing but good." Aug 2007
The Wine Spectator 86 points: "A mix of moderately ripe, supple currant and cedary oak flavors that pick up a hint of mint and dried berry. Balanced, if shy on depth and richness. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2008 through 2012. 5,280 cases made." Sep 2007
